MS SQL Server DBA
Job Summary
Reporting to the Integration and Environment Manager, the MS SQL Server will be part of an implementation team responsible for the technical implementation and support of Intergraph applications.
The MS Sql Server DBA will be familiar with working in a software project environment integrating with existing COTS products, able to work on their own initiative and as a part of a large implementation team.
The persons will stay for 1 year in Rome, Italy. There will be the possibility to fly to Albania several times during the staying in Rome. The accommodation will be provided by the host company.
Responsibilities
- System installation and configuration.
- Trouble shooting and support of live operations.
- System customisation.
- System configuration design.
- Documentation of project architecture.
- Providing technical guidance and direction to other staff members as required.
- Conducting workshops for customers and internal staff as required.
- Working to defined project methodologies and adhering to documented procedures.
Skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Able to travel (full, preferably clean, driving licence required).
- Excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and written.
- Able to work to defined deadlines.
- Able to plan and carry out multiple work assignments.
- Technical skills:
- First class knowledge of relational databases (Ms Sql Server).
- Proficient in use of Windows operating systems (includes both Client and Server products).
- Database hardware configuration for optimal performance.
- Working knowledge of networks and hardware.
Qualifications
- Degree level or higher education or equivalent job experience for the role.
Experience
- Installation, Administration and Maintenance of SQL Server Instances (2005 - 2014)
- Troubleshoot various day-to-day problems that arise and fix issues
- Monitoring Server Error Logs and check email alert or configure email alerts
- Create Users and assign permissions (internal or via active directory roles)
- Create Linked Servers to SQL Servers and other databases such as Oracle, Access, Mysql2 of 2
- Design or Enhance database Backup, Recovery Strategy, and Monitor their activities
- Abilityto Setup database failover, Clustering, Mirroring, Log Shipping and Replication
- Develop,implement, and monitor performance tuning tasks (understand PowerShell)
- Documentingchanges and follow change control
- Clone Development, Test, and Staging environments from Production instances
- Troubleshoot and solve various problems that arise in a daily DBA lifecycle.
- Execute schema and code promotions Dev ->Test ->QA ->Prod
- Keep databases in synch (replication , backup/restore , log shipping , DataGuard)
- Works with application development staff inorder to enforce standards, and quality assurance policies
and procedures as it pertains to accessing corporate databases
Languages
- English (mandatory)
- Italian (advantageous)
Security Clearance
All candidates must either be security cleared or be prepared to obtain security clearance to SC (Security Check) level. All job offers will be conditional subject to the candidate obtaining BS (Baseline Standard) level clearance prior to employment.
