JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
TRANSMISSION ENGINEERS
Duties & Responsibilities
· Provisioning, testing, and fault isolation of circuits at various transmission rates
· Operations and Maintenance of SDH, CWDM & DWDM transmission equipment
· Execute fault diagnosis, clearance, and reporting activities in minimal time
· Monitor network and network elements and report their performance
· Available in case of emergency calls after normal working hours
· Carry out software upgrades and maintenance activities
· Communicate with Vendor’s TAC personnel to solve complicated or unusual cases, and to be updated about software/hardware release notes
· Carry out scheduled reporting to Management
· Documentation and record all faults using data base tools
· Supervise scheduled preventive maintenance for network or network elements and monitor the quality of the services.
The position reports to the Transmission Manager
Skills:
Experience in the following areas:
SDH digital hierarchy from fractional E1 to 10G/STM64 circuit level including the use of test sets and knowledge of fiber handling / cleaning techniques.
Optical layer 1 transport systems, OTN, ROADM, SDH, cross connect switching and signal grooming, including ring and mesh network topologies.
Routing and signaling protocols, control plane technologies including ASON, GMPLS
· Minimum of one (1) year of Transmission Engineering work experience
· Highly motivated with the ability to operate with minimal supervision.
· Should be able to interact effectively with Vendors and sub-Contractors.
· Must possess excellent communication skills.
· Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.
· University degree in one of the following areas: Telecoms, Electrical, Electronics, or Computerl engineering
· Must be fluent with the English language (reading, writing and speaking)
