ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
1.1 Receives instructions from, and works under the supervision of the SAUDI ARAMCO Project Engineer.
.1.2 Acts as discipline engineer in the design of commercial, light industrial, institutional, and residential facilities.
.1.3 Determines design requirements for electrical, mechanical or HVAC systems as applicable.
1.4 Inspects existing system, determines condition of existing systems, and verifies record drawings for accuracy. Performs tests and troubleshooting analyzes of existing systems.
.1.5 Lays out plan and detail drawings for development by draftsman.
.1.6 Identifies standard details and develops new details required.
.1.7 Uses computer to run standard programs in order to solve engineering problems as required.
.1.8 Electrical engineer prepares for checking by the SAUDI ARAMCO Project Engineer load calculations as required for determining power requirements, service requirements, cable and conduit sizes, illumination levels, lighting design and voltage drops; prepares design for communications systems; sketches circuit and schematic wiring diagrams for drafting by the design draftsman; uses up-to-date technologies and assists SAUDI ARAMCO Project Engineer to identify other necessary design elements to comply with code and other requirements.
1.9 Mechanical engineer prepares for checking by the SAUDI ARAMCO Project Engineer load calculations as required for determining water and effluent flows, and pipe sizes; sketches riser diagrams and other plumbing drawings for drafting by the design draftsman; lays out fixtures and pipe runs; uses up-to-date technologies and assists SAUDI ARAMCO Project Engineer to identify other necessary design elements to comply with Code and other requirements.
1.10 HVAC engineer prepares for checking by the SAUDI ARAMCO Project Engineer thermal load calculations; determines ventilation and all quality requirements, and sizes equipment; lays out all necessary system components for drafting by the design draftsman; uses up-to-date technologies and assists SAUDI ARAMCO Project Engineer to identify other necessary design elements to comply with Code and other requirements
1.11 Reviews vendor catalogs to identify available equipment's, components and system elements. Write work scopes and detailed specifications for the electrical, mechanical or HVAC systems as applicable in coordination with Specification Technician.
1.12 Reviews plans and detail drawings prepared by the vendor to identify necessary design changes that comply with Code and company's requirements.
.1.13 Coordinates the development of materials take-off and cost estimates for the work as applicable with the Cost Engineer/Quantity Surveyor.
1.14 Assists Project Engineer as required to provide technical support during construction phase, including assisting to resolve site construction problems, evaluate "or equivalent" materials substations, and develop addendum and change orders.
.2 Qualifications
.2.1 Must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering as a minimum requirement and shall have passed National Licensure Examination.
2.2 Shall be fluent both in written and spoken English.
3 Experience
3.1 Must have ten (10) years working experience, from the date of obtaining License/Qualifications, in engineering design office designing and planning projects related to commercial, light industrial, institutional, and residential facilities. Shall have experience as Project Design Head for at least two (2) of the ten (10) years specified above. Preference will be given for experience with computer programs related to discipline.
3.2 Shall be able to produce Electrical/Mechanical designs and load analysis for residential and commercial structures using Computer Aided Drafting Software (MicroStation).
3.3 Well versed with the National Electric Codes (NEC)/Uniform Mechanical Code/ASHRAE/Uniform Plumbing Code/ Uniform Fire Code and other U.S. or European building codes.
