Job title: NMC Engineer
Reports to: NMC Manager
Job Description
Member of a team of three shift workers staffing the optical network management centre, responsible for monitoring Transmission systems and for carrying out proactive routines, maintenance tasks.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Act as a member of the NMC shift team within the NMC Control Room.
- Use the various management tools to monitor the Transmission systems managed from the NMC, in order to detect failures and alarms.
- Use the diagnostic and test facilities of the various management tools to localize the cause of the failure or alarm.
- Liaise with Field Support staff, customers and in order to ensure that service is restored efficiently in line with Service Level Agreements, following a network failure or alarm.
- Perform proactive routines and maintenance tasks on the platforms and systems, as laid down in NMC Procedures and Practices, or as directed by NMC management from time to time.
- Ensure all fault information, and any corrective actions taken, are recorded in the Remedy Trouble Ticketing system.
