Job Title: Senior Tunnel Engineer
Location: Albania
Position: Full-time
Located in Dragobia, Albania, Dragobia Hydropower is a run-of-river hydropower project which is owned by Dragobia Energy on a concessionary basis. Dragobia Energy will start the construction of the project in the following weeks.
Dragobia Energy is seeking a Senior Tunnel Engineer who in unison with the Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the construction of two 3 km tunnels within the planned timeframes and budgets. He or she will plan, execute, and close the construction of the tunnels, delivering on scope, schedule and budget. Activities include leading the tunnel construction team and overseeing all third party contractors, including outside engineering firms, equipment suppliers and civil/mechanical and electrical contractors. The Senior Tunnel Engineer will develop project plans, including technical and commercial selections of project suppliers.
This individual will:
• Oversee the technical, schedule, budget and construction of the tunnels.
• Supervise all aspects of tunnel execution
• Develop project plans, schedules and cost forecasts
• Manage all members of the team (internal and external), ensuring professional project management from system design to project commissioning/close out
• Manage the licenses and permits required
• Work with the Project Manager to select and manage all project vendors (e.g., engineering firms, equipment suppliers and contractors)
• Supervise outside engineering firms (e.g., review and approval of all shop/construction drawings/bills of materials, submittals and relevant engineering calculations)
• Assist the Procurements Office in placing and managing Purchase Orders and Change Orders
• Supervise the construction works done with our internal resources
• Communicate information continuously and effectively to cross-functional team
Desired Skills & Experience
Candidate Profile:
• BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited School of Engineering and
• MS in Civil Engineering with Tunnel Engineering focus is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in design, construction and management of underground and geotechnical projects
• Extensive design and construction experience including excavation of tunnels and shafts using drill & blast and NATM, tunneling in soft ground and hard rock
• Solid background in rock mechanics and rock tunneling
• Proven experience in developing contract drawings, specifications, and geotechnical/tunnel memoranda and reports
• Extensive experience as a lead tunnel engineer or a resident engineer/construction manager on similar size underground projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language
